Despite its numerous troubles, many of which had been ironed out by 1945 (although case-extraction problems persisted), the 8.8cm FlaK 41 was an outstanding anti-aircraft gun to the extent that it could out-perform the larger calibre 10.5cm FlaK 38 and 39 heavy anti-aircraft guns. As far as the defence of the Reich was concerned, there were never enough of them, so they were carefully deployed around targets of prime importance.
After 1945 surviving FlaK 41s were either scrapped, distributed as war trophies, or were passed to the re-formed state of Czecho-Slovakia, where they formed a significant part of the national armoury for some years until replaced by equipments of Soviet origin.
